Care Guide: How to Clean and Maintain Your Water Hyacinth Furniture
1.Daily cleaning – Keep the product clean.
+ Water hyacinth is a natural material that easily attracts dust, so it needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent dirt buildup:
• Gently dust: Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment to remove dust from the weave. Alternatively, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a soft-bristled brush to gently sweep along the weave. Doing this 2–3 times a week is sufficient.
• Avoid frequent wet cleaning: Only wet clean when absolutely necessary, as water hyacinth is capable of absorbing moisture.

2.Deep cleaning and stain removal
+ When there are stains from food, drinks, or dirt that have accumulated over time:
• Prepare the solution: Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water.
• Clean: Dip a soft cloth into the solution, wring it out thoroughly (to prevent dripping), and gently wipe in the direction of the weave. Then, wipe again immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
• Use a soft nylon brush: Gently scrub to remove dried food crumbs, mud, or coarse stains. Do not scrub vigorously to avoid fraying the fibers.
• For stubborn stains: You can use a very small amount of paint thinner, apply it to a cloth, and test it on an inconspicuous area first. Do not pour it directly onto the product.
• Absolutely avoid: Do not soak in water, do not use a washing machine, do not use strong detergents, bleach, or solutions with high alcohol content.
⚠️ Important note: After wiping with a wet cloth, dry the product completely and allow it to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. Do not leave it damp for extended periods as this will cause mold growth.
3.Long-term maintenance – Keeping water hyacinth products durable and beautiful.
+ Water hyacinth is a natural material, so it will "breathe" with the environment. To prevent fading, brittleness, breakage, or mold:
• Avoid direct sunlight: Place furniture away from windows and glass doors where strong sunlight shines. Prolonged sunlight will cause the water hyacinth to fade and become more brittle.
• Maintain a dry, well-ventilated environment: Do not place in damp areas, near kitchens, bathrooms, or areas prone to splashes of water. High humidity is the biggest enemy of water hyacinth.
• Protect when not in use: If storing for a long time (for example, during winter in Europe or when moving), wrap in a plastic bag or cardboard box, adding 3–4 packets of silica gel to absorb moisture. Avoid stacking heavy items.
• Do not leave outdoors for extended periods: Water hyacinth is best suited for indoor use. If it is an outdoor product, it needs to be protected from rain and sun with a specialized cover.

4.Emergency Handling
• Large spills: Immediately remove pillows/covers (if any), wipe away any water from the surface, and air dry outdoors in a cool, shaded place or use a hairdryer on normal temperature. Then place in a drying room or in a place with a strong fan. Important: Must be completely dry before reuse.
• Mold: Wipe away mold with a dry cloth or soft brush, then air dry in gentle sunlight for 3–4 hours (do not expose to direct sunlight for too long). You can apply an additional protective PU coating (if available) to prevent mold from returning.
👉🏻 Why is proper care important?
With the cleaning and maintenance methods described above, your water hyacinth furniture can last beautifully for 5–10 years or longer, retaining its natural color and elasticity. This is not only a cost-effective way to appreciate the green value of the product – a sustainable choice that is becoming increasingly popular in the US and Europe.
