Loofah for Kitchen: The Ultimate Zero-Waste Dish Scrubber Guide

1. What is a Loofah? What are its outstanding advantages compared to regular plastic dishwashing sponges?
        • 100% Biodegradable: When finished, simply throw them in a compost bin or bury them in the ground; they will decompose naturally within a few months, leaving no microplastics.
        • More effective cleaning: Loofah sponges have a moderately coarse texture, easily creating lather, quickly removing grease and food residue without scratching dishes (except non-stick pans).
        • Cost savings
        • Odorless: If cleaned properly, loofahs dry quickly and are less likely to retain odors than damp, moldy plastic sponges.

     2. Instructions on how to properly use a Loofah dishwashing liquid.
        • Step 1: Prepare the loofah sponge
+ Buy a whole loofah or pre-cut pieces (search on Shopee, Lazada, or Tiki using keywords like "loofah for dishwashing" or "dishwashing sponge").
+ If buying a whole loofah: Soak in hot water for 10-15 minutes to soften it, then cut it into 5-7cm square pieces (a convenient size for your hand).
        • Step 2: Daily Use
+ Wet the loofah with hot water to soften the fibers.
+ Add a few drops of dish soap (preferably a natural one).
+ Gently scrub in a circular motion on dishes, pots, and pans.
+ Excellent for porcelain, glass, and stainless steel dishes. Avoid using on non-stick pans to prevent scratching the coating.

3.How to clean and maintain your loofah for long-lasting use.
        • To prevent mold and extend the lifespan of your loofah:
+ After each use: Rinse thoroughly under running water and wring out completely.
+ Hang it on a rack or hook in a well-ventilated area (do not leave it damp in the sink).
+ Weekly deep cleaning: Soak in boiling water for 5 minutes or microwave for 1-2 minutes (with a little water). Or soak in diluted vinegar water for 10 minutes.
+ Replace it when you see wear and tear or notice a strange odor (usually every 2-4 weeks).
